Newtek Business Services provides a suite of business and financial services to small to midsized businesses, including electronic merchant payment processing, website hosting, Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, data storage, insurance, accounts receivable financing, and payroll management. The company serves more than 100,000 business accounts throughout the US. Newtek also has investments in certified capital companies (Capcos), which are authorized in eight states and Washington, DC. It has stakes in about a dozen Capcos that traditionally have issued debt and equity securities to insurance firms, then used the funds to mainly invest in small and midsized financial and business services firms.
